The Stunning Impact of E-Discovery on IT — the view from the IT department and how they can assist the lawyers

Most of the blogs/web sites/articles about e-discovery that we read on the web are authored by attorneys. One of the points made several times by all the judges on the panels at Legal Tech West Coast (for our coverage click here) was “when you have your meet and confer, know your client’s documentation system and come prepared to talk in detail. Bring the IT folks with you“.

From the IT side there is a general feeling that, for the most part, lawyers and judges do not understand IT or the Internet. Here’s an interesting article written from the IT side where the author states “it is in your best interest to learn more about the legal issues regarding e-discovery to be prepared, since surely everyone reading this article will be impacted in the future, if not already“.
